EX1 was the “before” story.  EX2 is the “after” story.  We get the full cast again in this episode… which isn’t much, with only 4 real characters ever coming into play in this entire series.  But there is one good thing that make up for the lack of characters  – whoever you were fan of, you get to see them in a very special outfit.  It is a bit cliche, but we don’t mind, do we?

In this week’s episode things get uncomfortable. The two kids Mirai and Yuuki and their newly found guardian Mari are trying to make their way back to Tokyo. Of course they aren’t the only people with that idea. Aftershocks still destroy instable buildings along the road, so it’s not an easy way. Plus you get a glimpse what it means when you are a little kid in the middle of a moving crowd of people – you don’t see a thing and you really can get lost…

As you remember Mirai and Yuuki were separated at the end of last episode when a desastrous earthquake hits Tokyo. After Mirai gets herself together she goes back into the building to search for her brother. This really is dangorous because the building gets more instable with each aftershock. Luckily there is Mari – the woman both kids met before at the kiosk. She’s a kind person and helps Mirai looking for Yuuki…

That’s right – we teamed up with our friends at ANBU to do this promising series I was interested in instantly when I learned about it. ^_^
The story is about Mirai and her little brother Yuuki. Mirai is a real teenager – she seems grumpy and annoyed all the time, struggling with her school grades, questioning herself and opposing the quite traditional gender roles her parents live. Yuuki seems to be the complete opposite – he is a lighthearted friendly young boy, attached very much to his mother and trying to lighten up his big sister.
Of course Mirai is not enthusiastic about taking her brother to Odaiba Island for a robot exhibition at the beginning of the summer vacation. But they do the trip without their parents when Tokyo is hit by an earthquake with the title-giving magnitude 8.0:

Saki, I’m no good at being noble, but it doesn’t take much to see that the problems of twelve little people don’t amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. Someday you’ll understand that.
