You know, back when I lived in Chicago, I took a class on economics. We learned stuff like how to read stock tickers and why 30-year mortgages were scams, or we listened to the Cubs game on radio. We never really learned what to do if an immortal wolf goddess sneaked into our wagon, or what to do if said immortal wolf goddess flirted with us, but I’m fairly sure that we wouldn’t have been taught to do as Lawrence does. The 40-year-old virgin’s got nothing on Lawrence. After season 1, I was rooting for Horo and him to become a couple. After season 2, I want him dead. Our stylist, DW, cries himself to sleep every night as he nuzzles his Horo dakimakura (allegedly), and for good reason too. Lawrence is just frustrating. But here’s to season 3!

I had a huge post written about Lawrence and his ineptitude and disgustingly good luck with women, but I figured it would be easier for you to read if I wrote it this way: Lawrence needs to die. I hate him.
Cliffhanger is a 1993 movie starring Sylvester Stallone about a mid-air heist that goes awry, resulting in a violent search between multiple violent groups for a suitcase full of cash. “Cliffhanger” is also a plot device in works of fiction wherein a character is faced with a precarious situation or a shocking revelation, resulting in the audience staying tuned to see the outcome. The people working on this show have combined both of these, but not in a way they hoped. You see, they took the concept of a cliffhanger and put the characters in a troublesome situation, then added elements of the 1993 action film by, well, having stuff happen. Their hope was to make the audience want to watch next week’s episode to know the outcome. However, what they achieved was putting the characters in a troublesome situation every single freakin’ episode, which just makes the audience have violent thoughts towards the bastards who use a cliffhanger every single freakin’ episode. desu.
And Horo’s hot.

Fukuyama Jun has voiced many characters: Kendo Club Student A, Lelouch Lamperouge, Assistant, Tweedledum, Student C, Leopard, Vincent Nightray, and many others. But none piss me off as much as Kraft Lawrence. Lawrence is a fairly skilled merchant, there’s no arguing that, and he’s also fairly intelligent. However, he’s also really, really stupid. I have no words to express how much he irks me. Just watch this episode. And learn to hate. Come to the dark side.
By the way, that barmaid’s pretty hot.

If you’ve thought, “Man, Horo just took Lawrence down a notch” at anytime during this series, wait till you see this episode, which also features a scene where a giant crowd of men stand around watching Horo eat cuz she’s really, really hot.
Oh, and you probably want to wait until you have the next episode as well before watching this one.

The redheaded barmaid. I want. And Eve too.
If Horo was in a swimsuit that gets ripped off on accident when someone trips and reaches out to grab something and ends up grabbing the swimsuit instead, and if there was a harem of beautiful women begging him to accept them, Lawrence would still say, “Excuse me, ladies. I see that rice has risen two silvers in price. I must make a sale.”

This release is episode 07 of Spice and Wolf II. Horo and Lawrence talk about stuff as they journey to Renos, another stop on their quest to find Horo’s ancestral land, Yoitsu. During their stay at Renos, Horo is really hot. Who wouldn’t want to be paired up with her? As the episode ends, we meet a mysteriously charming traveler, and we are left to wonder who this mysteriously charming traveler is. Perhaps it’s Amati, doused in gallons of feminine perfume and stalking the dynamically dynamic dyad because he has fallen madly for Horo. Or mayhaps it’s Rachel, Baccano’s awesomely awesomtastic awesomeness of a reporter, out in the field for another story. Yet the possibility remains that this mysteriously charming traveler is simply a traveler that is mysteriously charming. Why is this mysteriously charming traveler so mysteriously charming? Or is the mysteriously charming traveler actually charmingly mysterious? Who knows? Obviously, anyone who’s seen episode 08 or read the light novels, but what do they know?
But I digress.
