Nyan Koy, nya nyaaaaaaa.
In this episode, Junpei finally asks Kaede out. It’s very uneventful episode. It’s a boring ending.

Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon? Or asked the storyline of Nyan Koi why it arglebargles? Sometimes, things happen for a reason. Sometimes, things just don’t happen at all. It’s really a matter of interpretation, I suppose. For example, how can there be so much said, yet so little conveyed? One interpretation would be that discovering one’s inner truth is a path of many winding curves, with many curves to wind about as one tries to discover one’s inner truth. Another interpretation is because. So, as you can see, things sometimes happen if they happen, but if they don’t happen, then it’s not because they didn’t happen, but because the happening takes a while to happen. Just because.
Oh, and Nyan Koi ends next episode. I understand that many fans of the twin-tailed twins are disappointed that there were no twin-tailed twins in all their twin-tailed twins glory in a hot spring. You can always dream.

Episode 10 of Nyan Koi makes Memento’s story progression seem linear. Anyway, in today’s episode: Everyone’s favorite hero, chocolate biscuit cookie Pocky, must make a life-threatening decision on a difficult and arduous life-threatening decision. Pocky must choose not only between life and death, but between life but death, or death but life. Does Pocky choose life, condemning others to death, or does Pocky choose to sacrifice Pockyself, condemning others to death? Does Pocky break, or does Pocky hold? The next time you bite into a Pocky stick, ask yourself this: Does Pocky snap because Pocky chooses to, or because Pocky has no other choice?
For those of you wondering why it took so long to release this episode, we had to wait for the .ts and CC so that we could translate, time, edit, QC, encode, typeset, and drool over the girls, but our encoder was being lazy and stalling. We were like, “Where’s the .ts, dae?” and he was like, “It’s not even out yet.” Like seriously? Gonna make excuses? Aiyah.

Can anything be too good to be true with what we do? Sure there are, plenty of them. Like, how fast this release came. In fact, it probably came out too fast. And too quickly, various too obvious errors were identified. Too embarrassed, we felt obligated to release this errata and a patch to this episode. I just hope you will all be too kind to forgive our too obvious errors and still look forward to our next release.
Details of errors:
@2:45 “…let’s enjoy!” ⇒ “…let’s enjoy ourselves!”
@3:02 “swim suite” ⇒ “swim suit”
@3:57 “What was that for, you pervert!” ⇒ “What was that for, you pervert?!”
@6:59 “You are the the family heir…” ⇒ “You are the family heir…”
@7:18 “…I’ll take a full responsibility!” ⇒ “…I’ll take full responsibility!”
@20:37 “Note: Kamone means…” ⇒ “Note: Kamome means…”

Here we have episode 08 of Nyan Koi, where nothing really happens in terms of storyline. The progress Junpei makes with Mizuno is about as good as you’d expect the protagonist of a harem series to make, the twin-tailed twins are as twin-tailed twin as twin-tailed twins can twin-tailed twin, and then there are the cats. A bit of annoyance may start to set in, as things not terribly humorous occur simply for the attempted humor, which may or may not be humorous to you, depending, of course, on whether you find the attempted humor to be humorous or not, and some frustration may also take hold at the ineptitude of the inept protagonist, unless you view his inept ineptitude to be not very inept at all, depending, of course, on whether you find his inept ineptitude to be truly inept ineptitude. But these negative feelings that you may or may not feel, depending, of course, on whether you feel these negative feelings or not, dissipate upon learning the fact that episode 09 of Nyan Koi will be the pool episode. Meow.
Also, the reference at 19:48 is to “osakana kuwaeta doraneko”, translated as “a cat with a fish in its mouth”, the opening phrase of the them song for the long-running series Sazae-san.

Kyoto is a World Heritage Site, and it’s one of the most well-known spiritual centers in the world, noted especially for its 2000 Buddhist and Shinto shrines, including some of the most famous in the world, such as the Kiyomizu-dera our cast visits in this episode. There are also amazingly well-preserved palaces and gardens; beautiful scenery; an abundance of fantastic food… heck, Kyoto is the center of both Japan’s television and film industry, as well as Japan’s academics, with Kyoto University ranked #25 in the world. Kyoto even has an International Manga Museum, which currently holds over 200,000 titles.
Of course, none of that matters to the cast of Nyan Koi (or us viewers), because HOT SPRINGS. Hot springs. That is all.
