Spice & Wolf II 12
September 30th, 2009 by desolo
You know, back when I lived in Chicago, I took a class on economics. We learned stuff like how to read stock tickers and why 30-year mortgages were scams, or we listened to the Cubs game on radio. We never really learned what to do if an immortal wolf goddess sneaked into our wagon, or what to do if said immortal wolf goddess flirted with us, but I’m fairly sure that we wouldn’t have been taught to do as Lawrence does. The 40-year-old virgin’s got nothing on Lawrence. After season 1, I was rooting for Horo and him to become a couple. After season 2, I want him dead. Our stylist, DW, cries himself to sleep every night as he nuzzles his Horo dakimakura (allegedly), and for good reason too. Lawrence is just frustrating. But here’s to season 3! ![]()
Anyhoo, here’s the fantastical staff for this fantastical show:

Thanks fro completing the series i such a timely manner, I can also understand your frustration with lawrence
That seems like really bizarre content for an economics course. You didn’t do price mechanisms, elasticity of demand/supply, economies of scale, scarcity… that sort of thing?
Weren’t the fool’s gold episodes one several hours long supply and demand lesson on how it affects prices?
We stopped class to listen to the Cubs game on radio. What makes you think it was a normal econ class?
omg, thanks for the quick release! Frostii rocks!
Thank you for wrapping another series…. despite or inspite the frustrations. One question, is a season 3 confirmed… or was that just a sarcastic remark or real hope for one?
Watch episode 12 and you’ll see.
Really appreciate tha hard work! U guys r Fn awesome!!!!!! Oh and if any of u find out anything bout a 3rd season let us know will ya! ^^ I imagine this season did really good in japan so y not right?
@desolo – A shout out to you from Chicagoland baby!
And as always, much appreciation and love to all Frostii staff for their time and effort.
Send me some Lou Malnati’s bro. I’m craving some real pizza.
Lol. I was just there a couple weeks ago to meet up with my nephew who is just starting at NorthPark. It’s always one of the first things we all have to do when we first move here, right? That, and the Sears Tower which is no longer called Sears. That’s right, I’m old enough to be someone’s Aunt, have been out of college for quite some time and will forever love my anime and games. Stereotype, I defy you!
I’m sure there is a way to send your Malnati’s Pizza. I once iced a few pounds of crayfish in New Orleans and sent them overnight to my Mom in Colorado.
So many thanks for subbing one of my favorite shows! Although I enjoy economics, I’ve got to say that it’s the connection between supply, demand, and religion that really gets me excited about this series.
OK, so I’m the ONLY one who respects Lawrence for his self-restraint? What’s wrong with not putting sex at the top of your priorities list? Or understanding that it unnecessarily complicates business (and even personal!) relationships? Lawrence isn’t clueless, he’s shrewd (and cautious). Let’s give it up for an male protagonist we can really look up to!
…Oh, wait, this is the Internet. And you’re all in school. Never mind.
So you read my post and believe you know what I’m talking about, then you give your own opinion as the right opinion, and then you insult everyone? Where do you get off-
…Oh, wait, this is the Internet.
Never mind.
Hee hee hee ;D
Cheers. Thanks for subbing this guys.
Heh.. thanks for the subs and the lulz, guys. Everyone loves to dump on Lawrence, and give Horo a free pass! At times I see that bias in your subs, but that’s ok because they are even more entertaining that way. In fact, Lawrence is becoming one of my favorite male lead characters because he’s far more realistic than most romantic leads.
But I do agree with Margaan. Honestly, he’s done nothing but carry their relationship this season. He noticed Horo wasn’t just teasing – she was testing him. In just a few weeks at two towns, he went from “I’m not sure what you mean to me” to full-out “I love you more than anything and I can prove it”. That’s impressive for a guy who had practically zero experience with women before Horo, and traveled alone for 7 years.
In the end I think he was totally right in what he did. Up until episode 11 I too was a little pissed that he wasn’t just having sex with her. But if you read between the lines it’s obvious that he was right. She was always worried he saw her as just a child to protect, a cute crush to flaunt around and maybe have sex with, or a deus ex machina to help him get rich. In episode 12 he completely proved that it was because he genuinely loved her.
If he had just sexed her up I think she would have made up her mind to leave him even quicker. He was taking things slow, and that’s what she apparently wanted – she said she didn’t want their relationship to burn out too quickly (among other lame excuses that are obviously half-lies).
The way she responded to his holding back wasn’t out of fear that they WEREN’T growing closer together, it was out of fear that they WERE growing closer. She could easily tell that he wanted her, but was holding back (and clearly not just for his sake). If she wanted him that badly she could have easily grabbed him or jumped into his bed like in the first season.. but she didn’t.
Then there is the fact that she didn’t reciprocate at all in the end. He proved that after taking his time, he had figured out what was most important to him.. he was even willing to wait for her to figure out what she wanted. I mean, come on: just “hoping” she would reciprocate is good enough for him? It takes a lot of balls to say that with sincerity, and stand up to Horo with a sentiment like that. I’m more angry with HER for not reciprocating when she clearly wants to, and not even hinting at a “real” reason why.
But he’s still the plain, boring merchant sitting next to the moe wolf-goddess. That makes him the villain by default, because clearly everyone else has fallen in love with Horo at first sight, so why couldn’t he?
It’s going to be fun to see him try to figure her out now, though. He’s given her more than enough ammo to dodge his questions for a long time. It’s good that he’s at least grown a pair and is willing to completely defy her. It puts some real spice in his crafty character (feel free to shoot me now).
It’s nice to see people getting so enthusiastic about what they like, I suppose, but holy crap, dude. Could ya sparknotes this?
Heh.. sarcasm? Don’t worry, I know I’m opinionated.. this is what sometimes happens when a web developer is told to “take a break or we’ll force it by drugging you”. Too much coffee I guess
But Sparknotes? Is anyone really studying this light novel in school?
Yeah, the final episode is here. Great job guys.
On the subject of Lawrence:
Some big essays were written. Real masterpieces. And here’s my input, not even worth 2¢. Sorry, inflation. I think Lawrence needed to act. Even in episode3 where it looked despicable. And certainly before that, in season1 – he should have been more proactive and forceful. He should act because that’s what guys do.
But then again it’s an anime about a guy who likes a girl, but is inexperienced and insecure, not an anime about a guy who’s intimate with a girl.
“The 40-year-old virgin’s got nothing on Lawrence.”
HAHAHA!!
i hope, but doubt, there will be a season three. i think it ended fairly well, however, they can expand on it a bit more.
The season ended at the end of volume 5 of the light novel. (They skipped volume 4) The light novels are now up to volume 12. If they want, they can make 3 more seasons easily, as far as plot materials go. I still have my doubts on any further seasons though.
I forsee spicy wolf OVAs in our future
I know this has nothing to do with s&w but any update on tokyo mag 8? It’s been 2 weeks plus…

Quote.
We would really appreciate that…
Thanks a lot Frostii
AS expected from the show that made from on going novel. Yessss it much end in Cliff hanger for the next season but it better that the ending of the first season of Code Geass isn’t it ? The geass ending make fans want to shoot their own head.
However for this show the most thing that I always thinking when I watch this season is how they going to do about the fact that Horo is a god who has immortal age but Lawrence is just a mere human who can’t live long like that.
Some time I think if I were him I may do the same. I may never touch her even I love her so much. Especially when I thinking about that problem, I think it feel like despair in my life.
There are many type of love you know ?
Wow, this season was pointless. After going thru all that lawrence only says “I like you” and gives her a peck on the lips? Why did she cry and stay with him? And why did he give up his dream? This whole ep made no sense.
It must be love, love, love
Hi frostii! Is there any progress on batch torrent? Can you give us a date?
Also, you effin’ rule. Keep up the good work.
So… will the Blu-ray of Episode 00 be released… ever? It’s been a month since the DVDs (allegedly) came out, so…
Yes, by Christmas 2010.
Will you be releasing Wacchi to Sutorecchi ?
