^_^ Here we present you with the second show we picked from this spring list. This show caught my attention when first it was announced… because it was Production I.G?!
Some of us in here are Production I.G freaks ^^; 95% of their shows proved to be goood.

Honestly, don’t know what to say more than seeing ep1 made me happy that sweet ariato decided to do it ^_^;. Sanada is just awesome!! BASARA is an action, samurai, historical show focused on these 2 heroes of 2 clans. Read more about it in anidb or just watch ep1 and enjoy ^_^. Since it is set sometimes back in time, ariato piled up some historical notes for those interested in reading beyond.

Before downloading, I would just like to ask which version you guys used? Is it the cbc or the tbs one?

Dartz, we used the MBS stream which is similar to TBS one I believe. The staff did mention CBC but I for one did not like how it was low in details… more like flat animation compared to the TBS/MBS art! Our encoder decided to go with mp4 for this specific reason:

I have some problems with your translation, and your translation notes.
Uesugi Kenshin wasn’t the Emperor of anywhere. He was a daimyo who ruled over Echigo province/prefecture (yes, province, not clan). His clan affiliation was Uesugi.
Date Masamune was the ruler of Oshu province/prefecture, his clan affiliation was Date. Please get this right.
Likewise with Azai Nagamasa, who was from Oumi PROVINCE/PREFECTURE; Tokugawa Ieyasu of Mikawa PROVINCE, and affiliated with the Tokugawa CLAN etc.
Kickass karaoke, but please get your priorities straight. Good kara with not as good TL makes for a bad viewing experience. I know you guys can do better than this.
Regarding the CBC-vs-TBS issue, things are apparently even more complicated. The raw version that Frostii’s release used, the MBS stream, is visually equal to what is referred to as ‘the CBC version’ in this article on Sankaku:

But oddly enough, there are also raw releases out there that feature this version, yet have the TBS logo on them (For example, Shinsen-Subs uses this very raw for their release), leading me to conclude that… TBS aired both versions? (Which would reinforce the theory that their first airing was actually a mistake).
I’m actually impartial to which of the two is used for your releases, since it’ll be Frostii’s I’ll probably watch anyway, and it’s up to you to decide which one you prefer, but I hope you’ll at least take special care in trying to stay consistent in this. Thanks in advance!

TQ, any errors with the website notes are entirely my fault. I apologise for not doing my research properly; I’m far from an expert on the sengoku jidai but am trying to make sure I get as much right as possible.
I’m trying to fill in the blanks in a show which appears to assume that its audience (unsurprisingly) knows enough about Japanese history to recognise who everyone is supposed to be. Most of the characters are not even named in the show itself! I realise this is no excuse, but please bear with me and I’ll try and make sure things are more up to scratch next time.
Must try harder!
I just want you guys to get it right, because I know you can, not because I’m being a hater (luckily I didn’t bring this up in AniDB comments…) Been a fan since Froth-Bite’s Strawberry Panic and Ureshii’s Dennou Coil respectively.

The clans seem to have dominant colors…is there a game for this show?
murphy – Sengoku Basara is based on a series of Playstation 2 games which play fast and loose with Japanese history – there are at least THREE games that the show is based on.
Ijust watch both version that you guys released, guess there is problem with the raws itself at the opening, The centre part 1-3 second of Square pixel and the opening also different from the Shinsen one.

The Karaoke was sweet! I loved the little Sword & Spear.
I didn’t follow the story quiet well though, but the animation & Oyakatasama make up for that.
This show is about as historical as a GIANT ENEMY CRAB!
Maybe I’ve just realized this now…but I’m prolly a Production I.G baka myself. xD It’s something good, ain’t it? -giggles-

I never knew anything about the game. I always thought it was some lame game.
I saw lots of people wanting to watch this series…so I had to check for myself.
I guess watching the first episode prove me wrong. Damn! It’s really good. x’P
